The YWCA Safehouse provides FREE safe, emergency shelter and supportive services to survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault and their minor children.
CRISIS COUNSELING
Counselors provide tools to empower survivors to increase their safety and lead lives free from violence. Support groups provide a safe place to learn & grow with others who have gone through similar situations.
VICTIM ADVOCACY
We provide information about the criminal justice system, provide court support, assist with filing personal protection
orders & work with local police jurisdictions who receive domestic violence & sexual assault complaints. Our advocates
are also embedded in the Flint Police Department, as well as circuit and district court, working alongside our partners to provide services to victims.
SAFEHOUSE SHELTER
Since 1980, our 32 bed facility has provided safe, emergency shelter for victims and children who are homeless as a
result of abusive situations. Residents receive support services such as counseling and advocacy, as well as assist-
ance with finding permanent housing.
SAFE CENTER
In 2017, we began offering free rape examinations on site with 24-hour access to specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE).
CRISIS LINE 810-238-SAFE
The 24/7 crisis line offers trained staff who are available to respond to victims, answer questions, provide information
& referrals, and assist with the intake process for Safe House for those in need of shelter.
