CLIENTS SERVED: The Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries is one of the largest providers in the fight against homelessness and substance abuse in the country.

DESCRIPTION:  Residents of DRMM programs are provided healthcare, benefits assistance, vocational training, GED classes, job-readiness programs, counseling, spiritual life services, and more to ensure that more than just basic needs are being met.

SERVICES / PROGRAMS:  Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries provides services ranging from emergency shelter to job training. Every day, the services we provide touch the lives of more than 1,600 men, women, and children in the Detroit community. DRMM is much more than a homeless shelter or soup kitchen. Our evidence-based services address the needs of the whole individual. We assist those who are addicted to drugs and alcohol toward their goal of obtaining sobriety. We help teen mothers finish high school and learn critical parenting skills. We help those recently released from prison obtain employability skills and find housing and gainful employment. We work with S.A.Y. Detroit/DRMM Family Health Clinic to provide free medical care to children and families.

EMERGENCY HOUSING: DRMM offers both transitional and permanent housing to prevent any return to homelessness and addiction. DRMM believes everyone deserves care, a warm meal and a safe place to rest your head

FEEDING: For residents who receive shelter and stay overnight, DRMM provides meals and the opportunity to shower and receive new    clothing items. A healthy, nourishing meal could be the first step towards long-term recovery and a healthier, stable life. We also offer the only food bank in Macomb County.

VETERANS: DRMM has housing prioritized for Veterans at our 211 Glendale location in Highland Park. The new apartments include kitchenettes, upgraded fixtures and renovated common areas that will meet the needs of veterans to serve as permanent, sustainable housing.  DRMM offers a monthly Veterans’ Food Pantry in collaboration with Soldiers Angels, the Veterans Community Resource and Referral Center, and the Detroit Pistons that provides much-needed food assistance to veterans in the VA HMLS program. In addition, OASIS offers “Transitional Housing for Veterans.” Help assist men, many of whom are struggling with addiction, debt, and difficulty    finding employment. 25 men are homeless Veterans of the armed forces and 25 are men with mental health or substance abuse disabilities in addition to being homeless.

PRISONER RE-ENTRY SERVICES:  Homeless returning prisoners can receive housing from DRMM until they locate suitable long-term housing. Case management support is provided through shelter counseling staff. Target Population: Men & women returning to the community from prison.
