Our Mission:
Downriver Foster Closet is a local 501c3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to help foster kids rebuild their self-esteem and adapt to their new home. We offer free items to kids new or used like clothing, socks, underwear, shoes, suitcases. We started this non-profit to help relieve some pressure on the foster parents and have grown to help birth parents as well. It is our goal to come together as a community and help assist and support the foster care system and these kids in any way we can.

Our Back Story:
We are two foster parents who have adopted and currently care for kids in the foster care system. We opened in January of 2020 on whim just because we knew there were other foster parents out there that needed help in our community, and we wanted to make a difference for all the tri counties! We grew so fast and for that we are thankful, running the closet is a lot of work but it’s worth it when you see these kids get excited over the items we give them, or the programs we do!

Some of the programs we have done are Disney on Ice, Redwings game, Pistons Game, Prom/Homecoming Dress Giveaway, Easter Baskets, Bike Drive, Book Bag Drive, New Kicks Drive, Halloween Costumes, Trunk or Treat, Christmas, and of course our Birthday Club.
