Foster Care: In order for Orchards to provide a temporary and safe haven for children entering the foster care system, the staff in our Foster Home Licensing and Training/Recruitment departments continue to recruit, train and license new foster parents.
Family Preservation: Providing Services to High-Risk Families Orchards Family Preservation programs offer services to high-risk families to prevent their children from placement into foster care.
Adoption: Since 1986 when Orchards Children’s Services first entered into the adoptions field, we have completed more than 3,000 adoptions. Although most of the children are adopted by their foster parents or relatives there is no typical adoptive family and there continues to be an ongoing need for families who are willing to adopt older children.
Education: The Promise Scholarship Fund was started at Orchards in 2014 to provide direct services and financial aid to high school seniors, who have survived chronic abuse/neglect, yet demonstrate promise in the area of academic achievement and self-sufficiency. With private funding from businesses, corporations, and individual donors, Orchards’ high school graduates are able to attend four-year colleges and universities, community colleges, or technical and vocational schools to further their education and enter their chosen careers.
Orchards serves Wayne, Washtenaw, Genesse, Livingston, Shiawassee and St. Clair, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, Shiawassee and St. Clair counties and provide Specialized Statewide Services
