Lori’s Hands pairs student volunteers with clients who need help improving wellbeing and independence.
Students assist with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living such as grocery shopping, light household chores, meal preparation, gardening, technology training, companionship, and more. Once students are paired with a client, they continue to make weekly visits throughout the remainder of the semester.
Activities students are never permitted to help with include bathing or dressing, administering medications, changing bandages, and safety sitting. Students are not permitted to provide transportation to clients, and clients are not permitted to provide transportation to students.
A good fit for Lori’s Hands is someone who is living at home, has a diagnosed chronic illness, could benefit from help with non-medical household activities, and is willing to teach and engage with our students.
Lori’s Hands is currently open in Newark DE, Baltimore MD, and Metro Detroit MI.
