DVBIC’s mission is to serve active-duty military, their beneficiaries, and veterans with traumatic brain injury through state-of-the-science clinical care, innovative clinical research initiatives and educational programs, and support for force health protection
services.
DESCRIPTION:
DVBIC fulfills this mission through ongoing collaboration with the Department of Defense (DoD), military services, Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA), civilian health partners, local communities, families and individuals with TBI. At 18 sites supported by a Washington, D.C-area head- quarters, DVBIC treats, supports, trains and monitors service members, veterans, family members and providers who have been, or care for those who are, affected by traumatic brain injury.
SERVICES / PROGRAMS:
Resource & Navigation:Â Resource Navigation:Â Our Resource Navigation program offers personalized one-on-one assistance specifically designed for Military and Veteran caregivers. We are committed to helping with a wide range of complex needs, from accessing mental health services, food insecurity, and employment to navigating VA benefits, seeking educational opportunities, and homelessness.
The Bob Hope Critical Financial Assistance Program is available to the EDF Caregiver Community, including:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Caregivers of veterans or active-duty service members;
Survivors who provided care within the last 12 months; and,
Hidden Helpers, children with caregiving responsibilities and the children of military and veteran caregivers.
We understand that no two caregiving journeys look the same. - To be eligible for assistance: household income must generally be $150,000 or below, with thoughtful consideration for caregiver households experiencing extraordinary or life-altering events.                                                                   & Â
- If you are a Military or Veteran Caregiver experiencing one of the situations below that may qualify for urgent support:
Imminent utility shutoff, including gas/heat, electricity, or water
Food insecurity
