What FAR Does:
FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing a space for folks with
special needs to enrich their lives. Founded in 1951, we work with clients of all ages, introducing them to
new activities and experiences, helping them gain a deeper understanding of themselves and showing them
new ways to communicate how they feel.

Through the dedication of our highly-trained staff and the support of partners and collaborating organizations throughout Metro Detroit, we offer music, art, dance/movement and recreational therapy for children and adults
with a variety of special needs diagnoses. We go into schools in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties to pro-
vide music, art, dance/movement and recreational therapy for students receiving special education services.
We work to expose our clients to new avenues of expression which serve to improve how they relate and interact with their environments and families. Enriching the lives of individuals with special needs, regardless of age, through the power of creative arts and recreational therapies.
