STATUS:

• Critical Repair Home Repair: Accepting applications for Detroit, District 6, Boynton & Oakwood Heights only
• Homeownership Program: Open for eligible prospective homeowners.
• Homeowner Education: Open. Classes and workshops are offered periodically.

SERVICE AREA: City of Detroit and Wayne County; specific Critical Home Repair funding may be limited to designated neighborhoods or populations.

CLIENTS SERVED: Low- to moderate-income Detroit/Wayne County homeowners who own and live in their homes. Critical Home Repair eligibility generally requires household income at or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI), with additional requirements depending on the funding source.

Habitat for Humanity Detroit provides affordable homeownership opportunities and Critical Home Repair assistance for homeowners facing urgent health and safety problems. Its repair program is grant-funded, so homeowners do not repay the assistance, although some projects may require a one-time $100 fee.

SERVICES & PROGRAMS:

• Critical Home Repair: Assistance with urgent health and safety repairs, including roofs, gutters, siding, HVAC systems, water heaters, windows, exterior doors, porch repairs, and accessibility modifications such as ramps.
• Homeownership Program: Helps eligible first-time homebuyers purchase affordable, newly built or renovated Habitat homes through affordable mortgages, homebuyer education, and coaching.
• Homeowner Education: Offers classes and workshops on home maintenance, financial literacy, homebuying, and working with contractors.

• Homeownership Program: Complete the Homeownership Interest Form to begin the application process. Applicants will receive next steps by email and must obtain lender pre-qualification or pre-approval.
