CLIENTS SERVED: Low-income homeowners who own and occupy a single-family home in the service area. Applicants must generally be unable to complete needed repairs because of physical or financial limitations and meet the program’s income requirements.
DESCRIPTION: Rebuilding Together Tri-County provides free critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, and energy-efficiency improvements through local volunteers. Projects are generally selected for homeowners with significant needs that can be addressed through volunteer labor.
SERVICES / PROGRAMS:
- Critical Home Repairs: Repairs may include steps, decks, handrails, doors and windows, electrical work, appliances, and other health and safety improvements.
- Accessibility Modifications: May include grab bars, handrails, and other modifications that improve accessibility and safety.
- Energy-Efficiency Improvements: Provides energy-related improvements when they can be completed within the scope of the volunteer project.
- Rebuild Day: Many projects are completed during the organization’s annual April Rebuilding Month, although additional projects may be scheduled throughout the year.
HOW TO APPLY: Download and complete the home repair application, or call 517-455-5068 to request an application. Mail completed applications to Rebuilding Together Tri-County, PO Box 1111, Okemos, MI 48805-1111. Applications are reviewed by the Housing Committee and then qualifying applicants may receive a home visit before final project selection.
