DESCRIPTION: Provides families experiencing the death of a baby with free professional remembrance photography. Volunteer photographers conduct intimate portrait sessions and provide families with gently retouched black-and-white digital portraits as a lasting keepsake honoring their baby.
PROGRAMS/SERVICES:
- Remembrance Photography: Free professional portrait sessions for families following the loss of a baby, with professionally retouched digital images provided at no cost.
- Photographer Matching: Families or medical providers can request a local photographer. Availability is not guaranteed because photographers are volunteers.
- Digital Retouching: If a photographer is unavailable, families may submit existing photographs for professional retouching when eligible.
- Family Resources: Provides information and guidance for parents and loved ones coping with pregnancy and infant loss.
- Medical Provider Support: Hospitals and medical professionals can become affiliated, receive training, and learn how to provide remembrance photography when a volunteer photographer is unavailable.
- Care Package Program: Provides remembrance-related items and support resources for families experiencing loss.
HOW TO ACCESS: Families can use the organization’s Find a Photographer service to locate an available photographer. The organization recommends starting the process as soon as possible because photographer availability varies. Medical staff can also facilitate the request on behalf of a family.
