SERVICE AREA: Northwest Detroit, including College Park, Winship, Tri-Point, Schulze, Crary/St. Mary’s, Hubbell-Puritan, Harmony Village, and Belmont, as well as portions of the Bethune Community and Fitzgerald/Marygrove neighborhoods.
CLIENTS SERVED: Detroit residents, homeowners, seniors, prospective homeowners, and neighborhood residents. Eligibility varies by program, with some services restricted to specific neighborhoods or income levels.
DESCRIPTION: Sinai-Grace Guild Community Development Corporation is a Northwest Detroit community development organization that operates and administers neighborhood programs, often using grants and funding from larger foundations, government agencies, and other partners. It also works with partner organizations to deliver some programs and services.
SERVICES / PROGRAMS:
- Neighborhood Enhancement – Home & Exterior Repair: Assists with repairs such as porches, steps, railings, windows, siding, exterior painting, and other improvements that help preserve and improve the safety and condition of homes.
- Insure Your Home – Roof Replacement: Replaces the roof for homeowners whose roof condition is preventing them from obtaining or maintaining homeowners insurance. Funding and eligibility are limited.
- Home Weatherization for Seniors: Helps seniors in Belmont, College Park, and Winship neighborhoods improve energy efficiency and comfort of their homes through energy assessments, education, and energy-saving products or improvements.
- Live Local: Provides assistance up to $10,000 toward purchasing or renovating a home for participants who live near their workplace.
- My Neighborhood Connections Timebank: In partnership with the Hannan Center, this program connects residents with one another to exchange services and assistance, including transportation and help with basic needs.
- Seniors Staying Connected – Technology Support: In partnership with the Hannan Center, provides technology education and assistance to help seniors use computers and other technology.
- Nutrition Forward: In partnership with MSU Extension, offers nutrition education and related community wellness activities.
- Neighborhood Revitalization: Supports community improvement activities and initiatives designed to strengthen Northwest Detroit neighborhoods.
- Eco-Works: In partnership with Eco-Works, provides home efficiency kits to residents with Northwest Detroit.
