Before you apply for the Clean Slate Program check if:Â Your Convictions have already been Automatically set aside / Your Convictions are Eligible for Automatic Set Aside / If this is the case, you do not need to apply for the Clean Slate Program
On April 11, 2023, the Michigan State Police introduced a process to automatically expunge certain convictions without an application, per clean slate legislation. Complete an ICHAT request form to download your record and determine if your conviction(s) have been set aside automatically.
Due to the high demand for Clean Slate services, there will be at least a 120 day or more delay in receiving an initial eligibility response. We appreciate your patience as we review the Requests in the order they were received. If you previously applied for Clean Slate services to address a DUI charge and were denied, you must reapply following the process outlined below.
Persons with select criminal convictions may be eligible to have them removed from public records at no-cost to them through the Oakland County Clean Slate Program, administered by Oakland County Michigan Works!
Expungement opens the doors to better jobs, better housing choices and educational opportunities – a better quality of life. The process can take up to six months to complete. You must be a current Oakland County resident to qualify for expungement assistance.
Documentation about your specific felony or misdemeanor, including impaired driving, will be reviewed and, if you meet eligibility criteria, we can help you complete the review process for expunging your record.
