Kids Cafe:
For more than two decades, Dare to Care has provided hot, nutritious meals to children through Kids Cafes held at partner sites such as Community Centers and Boys and Girls Clubs.
Summer Meals for Kids:Â
Dare to Care’s Summer Meals for Kids program provides free breakfast, lunch and dinner for children across our community. During the summer months, children do not have access to free and reduced-price meals they receive during the school year.
Commodities Supplemental Food Program (CSFP):
In 2014, Dare to Care began distributing food through the CSFP program. This federal program provides monthly, well-balanced food packages to low-income seniors who meet certain requirements. The goal is to improve the health of people, at least 60 years of age, by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA commodity foods, such as grains, protein, fruits and vegetables.
Nourished Neighbors:
The Nourished Neighbors program is focused on decreasing senior hunger by providing healthy, frozen meal options for seniors in the convenience of their senior living residence. These meals provide a fast and nutritious meal option and decrease the number of meals missed due to financial constraints, food access, health issues and endurance limitations. These meals are prepared by our professional team in our Community Kitchen. If you are interested in offering this meal program to seniors you serve, please reach out to Sarah Mahan to learn more.
Mobile Pantries for Seniors:
The Mobile Pantry program distributes fresh fruit, vegetables and nonperishable items to community members at risk of hunger. We conveniently distribute these items to senior residential buildings and senior centers. When possible, we strategically partner with community organizations to provide additional services for seniors, such as blood pressure screenings and health coaching.
Dare to Care’s Community Kitchen: is a bustling hub where hot meals are prepared and delivered to children’s cafes and after-school programs, including the Boys and Girls Club and YMCAs. The kitchen also crafts frozen meals for our Seniors through the Nourished Neighbors program and our innovative initiatives. Additionally, it prepares nutritious options for our Prescriptive Pantry program.
