Food Pantry and Distribution:Â We warmly invite you to join us every Friday* at 10 AM for our Food and Clothing Distribution. Come together with the community and get some food for your family. Our food pantry provides dry goods, produce, and meat to those in need. We serve everyone who is an eligible participant from neighborhoods located in Northwest Flint area. This includes men, women, and children in the zip code areas 48504 and 48505.
Eye Clinic: Within our fully operational Eye Clinic, we extend essential access to comprehensive eye care services. Resilient Women: Dedicated to breaking down barriers and providing access to vital resources often beyond reach, our women’s program offers unwavering support to those navigating abusive or challenging circumstances. Whether seeking refuge from abuse or facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, we stand as a beacon of hope, offering compassionate and judgment-free assistance while empowering pathways to a brighter tomorrow.
Adult Literacy: Our one-on-one tutoring service extends to adults seeking to enhance their proficiency in various subjects including reading, writing, math, science, and history, among others. Additionally, we provide comprehensive GED preparation and test-taking support, along with an abundance of literacy resources. Moreover, we offer access to a diverse range of supplementary resources tailored to meet individual needs.
Employment Preparation: In our 11-week program focused on skill enhancement and lifestyle development, we offer a comprehensive array of tools to empower individuals. Through engaging sessions, participants dive into refining soft skills such as effective communication, problem-solving skills, and adaptive thinking. Moreover, our program includes hands-on computer training, where individuals are equipped with essential digital skills such as typing proficiency, email etiquette, and resume crafting. Beyond technical proficiency, we prioritize creating a strong work ethic and fostering independence, nurturing a mindset geared towards maintaining success and personal fulfillment.
Commercial Sewing: The Sewing Business at St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center is more than just a business; we work diligently to provide an environment that is supportive and nurturing to all of our staff members. All of our employees are graduates of our Resilient Communities Program or Employment Preparation Program. We train and hire the structurally unemployable. We offer job coaching and other support services in order to remove any barriers to their success in the workplace.
Lawn Care: The Lawn Care business allows us to provide ongoing workplace training while program participants earn a real wage and gain work experience in a supportive and nurturing environment. Our businesses operate as a Social Enterprise, where good business practices are combined with a greater social objective, and our bottom line is making a difference in the lives of our employees and the Flint community.
We offer…Mowing / Trimming / Snow Maintenance / Basic lawn maintenance. For 151 senior residents of Flint and the surrounding areas, 100% free through a partnership with Genesee County Senior Services Division.
