SERVICE AREA: Mid-Michigan, with programs and housing services focused primarily on the Greater Lansing area and surrounding communities.

CLIENTS SERVED: Low- to moderate-income individuals and families, first-time homebuyers, homeowners, renters, and people experiencing housing instability.

DESCRIPTION: Develops and preserves affordable housing and helps individuals and families achieve and maintain safe, stable housing through homeownership assistance, housing counseling, financial education, home repair and accessibility improvements, emergency assistance, and neighborhood revitalization.

PROGRAMS/SERVICES:

• Homeownership: Affordable homes for income-qualified first-time homebuyers, and education & assistance with the homebuying process.
• Down Payment Assistance: Provides information on state and local programs that may provide grants or deferred/forgivable loans for down payment and eligible closing costs.
• Housing Counseling: HUD-approved counseling for home purchase, post-purchase concerns, rental housing, and foreclosure prevention.
• Home Repair & Rehabilitation: Programs that improve the safety, accessibility, energy efficiency, and condition of existing homes, including the Tuesday Toolmen accessibility modifications program.
• Affordable Rental Housing: Income-qualified rental housing at several properties in Lansing, East Lansing, Mason, Haslett, and surrounding communities.
• Emergency Housing Assistance: Assistance to prevent homelessness and address unsafe housing conditions.
• Financial Education: Housing and financial education to help build financial stability and maintain housing.
• Neighborhood Revitalization: Development and rehabilitation of single- and multifamily housing and community-based efforts to strengthen neighborhoods.
• Home for Good: Supportive housing and services for households transitioning from homelessness into permanent housing.
• Tool Lending Library: Free tool borrowing for City of Lansing residents and neighborhood organizations, with tools available for individual home projects and neighborhood cleanup events.
