CLIENTS SERVED: Eligible homeowners directly affected by the Gordie Howe International Bridge project and residents of designated Southwest Detroit areas participating in Bridging Neighborhoods programs.

DESCRIPTION: Provides home improvements, environmental mitigation, and housing relocation opportunities for eligible residents while also supporting neighborhood stabilization through the renovation of vacant and blighted homes.

PROGRAMS/SERVICES:

• Home Swap Program: Provides an opportunity to voluntarily exchange their current home for a renovated Detroit Land Bank Authority property in another Detroit neighborhood. The program is intended to help residents relocate away from the direct impact of the bridge project while retaining homeownership.
• I-75 Environmental Mitigation: Provides home improvements designed to reduce the effects of increased traffic, noise, and air pollution associated with the bridge project and I-75 expansion. Improvements have included double-pane windows, HVAC systems, and other home upgrades.
• Home Repair: Eligible participants may receive repairs to address common home needs through community-benefit funding associated with the bridge project.
• Neighborhood Housing Rehabilitation: Renovates vacant or blighted Detroit Land Bank Authority homes for use in the Home Swap program and helps increase the availability of renovated housing in Detroit neighborhoods.
• Community Engagement: The City holds community meetings to provide updates and obtain resident input regarding remaining Bridging Neighborhoods funds and future uses of the program.
