DESCRIPTION: Abayomi Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a Detroit-based nonprofit. It is a HUD-certified housing counseling agency that works to strengthen families and communities through housing stability, financial education, health and wellness, youth development, and economic empowerment.

SERVICES / PROGRAMS:

• Homebuyer Education: Offers a HUD-approved homebuyer education course covering budgeting, credit, mortgages, and the homebuying process. The course is offered virtually on the fourth Saturday of each month, but advance enrollment is required.
• One-on-One Housing Counseling: Provides guidance on homeownership, mortgage readiness, budgeting, credit, and housing stability. Services are free or low-cost for eligible participants.
• Foreclosure Prevention: Helps homeowners facing mortgage delinquency or foreclosure understand options, including loan modification and other ways to maintain housing.
• Rental Counseling and Tenant Education: Provides guidance on rental housing issues and tenant rights.
• Property Tax Exemption Assistance: Helps eligible homeowners understand and pursue property tax exemptions.
• Home Repairs: Mentioned as part of the Housing & Economic Development service.
• Be Well Health & Wellness Initiative: Offers wellness activities, fitness classes, nutrition workshops, community events, and free mental health counseling for eligible participants.
• RISE Business Support: Provides entrepreneurs and small businesses with technical assistance, business development resources, networking, and access to workspace and community partnerships.
