CLIENTS SERVED:  Active duty or retired Sailors and Marines & eligible family members with military ID, surviving spouses, and reservists on extended duty of 30+ days.

DESCRIPTION:  The Society provides need-based financial and other assistance to Marines, Sailors and their families.

SERVICES / PROGRAMS:

• Disaster & Critical Event Relief : NMCRS is there to help active duty and retired Sailors, Marines and their families navigate immediate financial impact and throughout recovery. Base-wide evacuations / Hurricanes, typhoons, tropical storms, and tornadoes / Snow and ice storms / Wildfires, floods, and earthquakes / Household emergencies like fires, significant property damage, or extensive power outages
• Education Assistance:  Children (under 23 by September 30 of current academic year) of active duty, retired or qualifying deceased Sailors and Marines / Spouses of active duty, retired, or qualifying deceased Sailors or Marines / Active-duty Sailors and Marines with written orders for the enlisted-to-officer program, MECEP or MECP (loan only) / Applicants may be pursuing career & technical education, associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree. Scholarships are awarded once per academic year and range from $500-$3,000.
• Emergency Travel: There’s no appointment necessary to receive emergency travel assistance, simply walk into any one of our offices. Not near an NMCRS office? Contact our partner, the American Red Cross at 877-272-7337 and they’ll work as your liaison. You’ll need the following: Military ID card & Emergency leave papers or verification information regarding reason for travel
• Interest Free Loans & Grants: If payday comes and you’re already in trouble, NMCRS can help. We offer active-duty Sailors and Marines budgeting tips and tricks, community resources, and even interest-free loans and grants to help you regain financial stability. These funds can be used for:  Everyday living, like food, rent and utilities / Car repairs, registration and insurance / PCS moves and setting up a new household / Medical and dental expenses not covered by insurance / Funeral expenses
• Community Support: Visiting Nurse Program, Thrift Shops & Uniform Lockers
