CLIENTS SERVED: Almost everyone associated with the U.S. Coast Guard is eligible to request assistance. Many programs can be used for spouses and children of the member. We serve Active-Duty members, Auxiliary members, Chaplains, Civilian employees, Officers, Reserve Members, retired military personnel and surviving spouses & dependents.

DESCRIPTION:  Helping Our Own Since 1924. CGMA works closely with the Coast Guard but remains an independent nonprofit organization and receives no government funding. Established and operated by Coast Guard people for Coast Guard people, CGMA pairs our network of representatives with personalized support to help individuals and families regain stability and move forward with confidence.

SERVICES / PROGRAMS:  Where to go for assistance: start with your local CGMA Representative. Your local CGMA Representative is the best person to contact when you need assistance. However, if you are away from home, you may receive emergency assistance from any CGMA Representative. We provide interest-free loans, grants, counseling, referrals, and other help. Our assistance programs focus on situations requiring immediate attention for essentials and solving temporary problems.

Special Needs Grants: CGMA is proud to work with the Coast Guard to provide additional support to our families with exceptional needs. Special Needs Grants provide financial assistance to Active-Duty CGMA members who are faced with increased financial requirements because they have dependents registered in the Coast Guard Special Needs Program. CGMA will reimburse members up to $3,000 every 60 months for services or resources designed for special needs.

PCS Childcare Support: A Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is full of challenges and unexpected expenses. One-way CGMA helps is to assist with childcare costs during this busy time.

Welcome Baby Layettes: CGMA celebrates the arrival of every new Coastie baby with a special gift package to help welcome your little one. The CGMA Welcome Baby Layette includes a thoughtful backpack filled with essential items like onesies, burp cloths, and a CGMA sippy cup—everything you need to start this exciting new chapter.
