What is Paired Donation?
When a patient needs a kidney transplant, family, friends and loved ones often step forward to offer the gift of living kidney donation. Many times, the donor is not compatible with the recipient. Paired donation matches one incompatible donor-recipient pair to another pair in the same situation, allowing for a transplant swap.

The APKD Kidney Promise:
The APKD Kidney Promise provides protection to EVERY living kidney donor who donates a kidney through the Alliance for Paired Kidney Donation (APKD). The APKD Kidney Promise protects you in the extremely unlikely event that you need a kidney transplant in the future. Should you, at any point in the future, need a kidney transplant, the APKD will work with our transplant partners to prioritize you for a living donor kidney.
