Low Income Home Renovation: There is currently no funding available for this program.
Weatherization Department: The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) reduces energy costs for low-income households by increasing the energy efficiency of homes while ensuring residents’ health and safety. The program offers energy efficiency services that are custom tailored to your home, helping you save money. BWCA’s WAP program provides weatherization services to qualified St. Clair County residents. Services are free to those who qualify. Some eligible repairs installed by certified, licensed and insured contractors can include: Insulation of attics, walls, and crawl spaces / Smoke and carbon monoxide detector evaluations / Furnace and water heater testing, repair or possible replacement.
Foreclosure Prevention Program:
Our one-on-one housing counseling services allow individuals to work with a HUD-certified counselor to receive personalized, expert advice and suggestions tailored to their specific living situation. Our Foreclosure Prevention Program assists homeowners by mediating with their lender for past due mortgage payments. Counselors can also help homeowners pursue solutions with their local Treasurer regarding delinquent property taxes. This program currently does NOT have funds to provide financial assistance for delinquent mortgages or property taxes. Housing Counseling services are FREE and available to residents of St. Clair, Sanilac, Huron, Lapeer, Tuscola, and Macomb counties.
Supportive Housing and Homeless Services: Supportive Housing and Homeless Services programs aim to empower individuals and families experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. Our agency offers a variety of programs that assist individuals and families in obtaining and/or maintaining housing as quickly as possible using the Housing First model.
Homeless Prevention Program: The Homeless Prevention program actively offers the necessary assistance to prevent individuals or families from moving into an emergency shelter or becoming homeless by assisting them with rent arrears to prevent eviction.
Rapid Rehousing Program: The Rapid Rehousing program actively assists individuals and families who are literally homeless or in emergency shelters by solving the practical and immediate challenges of obtaining permanent housing.
Permanent Supportive Housing Program: The Permanent Supportive Housing program assists individuals with disabilities and chronic health conditions who are experiencing homelessness in securing stable, permanent housing, and provides various services to support them in maintaining their housing long-term.
Street Outreach Program: The Street Outreach Program directly provides essential services that are necessary to reach unsheltered people experiencing homelessness. Its primary goal is to aid in securing housing, accessing emergency shelter, and obtaining critical services such as urgent or non-facility-based care.
