Mercer County Health Department receives federal funding from the Title X Population Research and Voluntary Family Planning Programs.
This program enables individuals who want to obtain family planning care to have access to a broad range of acceptable and effective family planning methods and services. The goal of this program is to provide individuals the information and means to exercise personal choice in determining the number and spacing of their children.
We offer a variety of medical services as part of our Family Planning program such as Pap testing/pelvic exams, breast exams, testing/treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy testing, birth control (including free condoms), and emergency contraception. In addition, education and counseling are provided as part of this program on topics such as healthy lifestyle choices, breast and testicular exams, STD/HIV risks, preconception health, etc. See below for more detail.
Vaccines:
Some immunizations are provided free of charge), some on a sliding scale fee schedule, some are billed to your insurance, or some are at full-cost to the patient. No one will be turned away for inability to pay. *MCHD is a provider of immunizations through the Vaccine for Children Program. These immunizations are free to those who are uninsured or under-insured up to the age of 19 years. There is a nominal administration fee. There are no income guidelines for this program, and no one is denied services due to inability to pay .*MCHD is a provider of immunizations 317: Adults (19 and older) For Adults who do not have insurance, or their insurance does not cover certain vaccines. There is a nominal administration fee.
Kentucky Women’s Cancer Screening Program:
The Kentucky Women’s Cancer Screening Program offers breast and cervical cancer screenings, diagnostic and treatment services. These services are provided to women who meet income eligibility requirements and who do not have health insurance to cover the cost. This program is part of the Centers for Disease Control’s National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.
