MILAN MEALS ON WHEELS
WHO CAN GET MEALS?
IF: You are 60 years of age or older. And: You are predominantly homebound (under normal circumstances you are unable to leave the home unassisted, or leaving home takes considerable and taxing effort).
Then, Meals on Wheels may be a helpful service to help you: Access nutritional ready to eat meals / Enjoy a daily visit by a friendly volunteer deliverer /Have peace of mind that someone will be checking in on you regularly
WHAT ARE THE MEALS LIKE? Our food is catered, and our staff/volunteers package it up. This is the same food our Senior Café members are eating! The hot lunches include a meaty entry, a starch (rice, bread, noodles), fruit, vegetables, and often a salad. In addition, you may receive 8 oz. of 2% milk.
All meals meet the requirements found in Dietary Guidelines for Americans published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. A second meal is available for you to enjoy later that day.
WHAT DOES IT COST? Meals are $5 each, however any additional amount you give helps keep this program going. At the end of the month, we will mail you an invoice detailing the number of meals received and the suggested donation amount. Please give what you are able to support the program. No one is turned away for inability to donate.
HOW DO YOU GET STARTED? Call MSHL at 734-508-6229 You can completely register over the phone and begin to receive service up to 48 hours after. You can receive meals up to five days a week (Monday—Friday). You get a hot lunch and an option of a second cold meal to eat later in the day.
