WAYNE COUNTY MEALS ON WHEELS
Wayne County Senior Services Department’s senior nutrition program is a volunteer driven program that provides congregate, home-delivered (Meals on Wheels), liquid, and Halal meals to the eligible senior residents in the 34 communities of Western Wayne County and Downriver. Meals are packed, picked-up or delivered from, or consumed on-site at 40 nutrition sites consisting of churches, senior centers, senior apartment buildings and schools in Out-Wayne County.
Home Delivered Meals:
Please be advised, Hot freshly prepared home delivered meals are being served to homebound clients on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday. A frozen meals is delivered with the hot meal on Thursdays for consumption on Friday. The suggested donation is $4.00 per meal.
Route Delivery Details:
Meals are delivered Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:30 am and 1:00 pm.
The average home delivery route serves 10 clients and takes about 1 -1 ½ hours to complete. Delivery starts times vary depending on location. Employees may volunteer time every day, a few days per week or occasionally as a substitute.
Eligibility Criteria:
Age 60 years or older
Homebound – unable to leave their house unassisted
Must be home to receive the meal delivery
The Wayne County Meals on Wheels program covers the following cities: Allen Park / Belleville / Canton / Dearborn / Dearborn Heights / Ecorse / Flat Rock / Garden City / Grosse Ile / Inkster / Lincoln Park / Livonia / Melvindale / Northville / Plymouth / Port Huron / Redford / River Rouge / Riverview / Rockwood / Romulus / Southgate / Taylor / Trenton / Wayne / Westland / Wyandotte
