Job Corps is a free residential education and training program that each year
helps several thousand students between the ages of 16-24 gain the experience
they need to get a better job and take control of their lives. The program offers
you an opportunity to learn a trade, the chance to get your GED or high school
diploma and help getting a job. Job Corps also provides you with a counselor
who you can call for help for one year after you graduate.
Civilian Conservation Centers:
Job Corps has 24 centers that are known as Civilian Conservation Centers.
These centers are operated by the U.S. Forest Service and encourage students
to learn in nature and work to sustain and improve the land they live on. By embracing their natural surroundings, students at these centers can train in additional career fields, including wildland firefighting, urban forestry and
forestry conservation.
