Better WAY Detroit™ [BWD] engages, pays, feeds, and counsels homeless persons, and connects them to services for housing, medical and mental health care, and stable employment opportunities.

In return, BWD participants help community organizations like St. Vincent de
Paul-Detroit and Detroit Goodfellows serve the underserved. During the summer months, we also help clean Detroit parks and neighborhoods of trash and overgrowth to help make them safer.
Our Program:
Employment:
You’ll work with us for pay for four weeks, during which time we’ll get to know
you so we can find and place you in permanent employment where we believe
you will succeed.
Meals:
While working with us you will enjoy a free lunch and snacks throughout the
day. Oh, and there is always music to enjoy!
Transportation:
We provide transportation by our own stretch van to and from your shelter
and the work site. We’ll also provide Uber service should you have a personal emergency during the day and need to return to the shelter.
Housing:
Better Way Detroit does not provide housing assistance, but we are closely connected to the local organizations that do and can assist you with making
the right connections.
Health Services:
Better Way Detroit is proactively seeking health care services for our partici-
pants, such as a special program offered through Wayne State University we
hope to launch this year. This is an area of focus which we intend to grow.
