Mayor Mike Duggan said the State of Michigan provided the city with $6.4 million in Federal novel coronavirus relief
funds that can be used to help pay back rent, bringing the amount of federal rental assistance Detroit has received
to $11.5 million. To qualify, tenants must meet income eligibility requirements and must have received a public record
showing that they are facing eviction. Qualifying public records include a notice to quit, summons or judgment. The
income eligibility varies by family size, but a household with four people and a total income of up to $70,900 will qualify
for assistance, said Donald Rencher, the City’s Director of Housing and Revitalization.
