EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT:
Head Start – center based program for children ages 3-5 …… a family oriented comprehensive child development program designed to provide education, social services, health and nutrition services to income eligible families.
Early Head Start – home based program for pregnant women & infants/toddlers ages 0-3 ……. home visits, socializations, developmental screenings, monthly parent meetings and trainings, vision screenings and medical referrals to enhance the growth and development of infants and toddlers.
HOUSING:
Home Weatherization – an energy conservation program designed to repair and insulate the homes of low-income individuals, senior citizens, and SSI recipients who own homes that are not energy efficient. Funded by the U.S. Dept. of Energy. Please contact Mid-Michigan Community Action Agency at 1-877-213-5948 to inquire on this program!
Low Income Energy Education – funded by MDHHS/Michigan Public Services Commission (MPSC) to provide energy education workshops to low-income clients.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) – designed to help make funds available for minor roof repair, furnace repair and replacement, and other energy efficient improvements to low-income owner-occupied dwellings.

Multi-Family Housing – Duvernay Park Apartments, Idlewild (Lake County)
Low-Income Senior Housing – Lawndale Apartments, Ludington (Mason County)

NUTRITION:
The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) – provides federally purchased surplus food to low-income families. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) – provides nutritionally balanced food supplements to senior citizens age 60 and over. Funded by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. Garden/Food Preservation – provides seeds and plants each year to families to encourage gardening. Offers canning, drying, and freezing food workshops and loans roto tillers to participants. Food Pantry – funded by the Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP) to provide up to 30 days of food to families and individuals on emergency needs basis.

Emergency Food & Shelter Program – EFSP (formerly known as FEMA) – a program for serving low-income individuals who have a documented need for help paying energy/utility costs and assistance with food and shelter
State Emergency Funds – designed to assist income eligible applicants with home ownership, relocation, or utility costs

EITC; Tax Assistance – free tax preparation by certified staff OFFERED MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY – CALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT.
Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) – washers/dryers to households with children
Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) – Relocation Services; Home Ownership; Heat & Utility Services
