MARLENE’S WIGS WITH LOVE

In 2008, cancer patients in the community in need of assistance with wigs and makeup were being referred to Marlene by friends and family. Over the years, she realized her incredible gift of connecting with and empowering those in need and was ready to expand. With the guidance of Henry Ford Health, Marlene funded and started her own program. She now fits, cuts and styles wigs for cancer patients and applies makeup to help them cope with the physical changes that occur when undergoing chemotherapy or radiation. Marlene’s Wigs With Love impacts the well-being of hundreds of Henry Ford Health cancer patients each year helping them to feel beautiful, loved and empowered at a very disruptive time in their lives.

Cancer patients are either referred to Marlene by a physician or a patient may contact her directly at 248-345-6777. If a patient has insurance, a doctor’s prescription is required for the appointment. All cancer patients are welcome to be fitted for a wig regardless of their ability to pay. Marlene schedules an individual consultation with each patient to ensure their privacy. At a very emotional time in their lives, Marlene gives cancer patients a free wig, headstand, shampoo, turban and hairbrush. She only asks that they give back in the future when they are able to help out other cancer patients.
