Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (M.A.R.E.)
The Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) is a statewide information and referral service for families interested in adopting children from foster care, and for adoption workers looking for homes for these children. The MARE website provides a listing of waiting children in MI and of MI families interested in adopting children with special needs. To view waiting children, please visit the photo listing page.
&
MARE is not a placement service — we do not provide care for waiting children and do not complete family home studies or foster care licenses. Instead, MARE refers prospective parents to agencies and answers questions they might have about adoption and children with “special needs.” MARE also provides technical assistance to adoption workers and agencies.
&
For families outside of MI who are interested in adoption, visit AdoptUSKids. This is a comprehensive national website with many articles, trainings, and state-specific links. It also includes photo listings of children all over the U.S. and the ability to register as an interested family and complete child-specific inquiries.
&
Military families should contact agencies in their home state (where you have residency residency) to complete the family assessment. More information may also be found by visiting militaryfamily.org, childwelfare.gov, and adoptuskids.org
&
If you live outside of MI and are already approved for adoption, you may inquire on MI children through the AdoptUSKids online inquiry system.
