If you have little or no money, or no home, you might qualify to have your Food Assistance Program (FAP) application processed more quickly. Ask the receptionist for the short application filing form. Complete
it, sign and date it and TURN IT TODAY!

A specialist will look at the information you have provided and will be able to tell you whether you qualify
for faster service OR if you must wait the normal processing time. If you have the right to faster service,
you will still have to complete the entire application form and talk with a specialist to see if you qualify
for food assistance benefits. You will also need to provide the Department with the required documents to
verify your statement AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

MICHIGAN WIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Below are the categorical requirements for the Women, Infants and Children program.
Women:
1. During pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after the birth of an infant
2. Postpartum up to six months after the birth of the infant or the end of the pregnancy
3. Breastfeeding up to the infant’s first birthday
Infants/Children: Up to the infant’s/child’s first birthday.
MICHIGAN WIC APPLICATION RESIDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be a resident of Michigan. If you are an applicant and live in an area where the Women,
Infants and Children program is administered by an Indian Tribal Organization, then you must meet resi-
dency requirements established by the ITO. Applicants are not required to live in Michigan or a local ser- vice area for a certain amount of time to meet the WIC eligibility requirements. At the option of the local
state agency, a Michigan WIC applicant may be required to live in a local service area and apply for bene-
fits
