Zichron Shlome Refuah Fund was thus founded with the mission of creating an island of tranquility for cancer patients and their families, amidst the turmoil of their storm. Patients who receive help to alleviate the extra burdens that accompany a cancer illness are better equipped to courageously battle their illness. Today, Zichron Shlome is a major Chessed organization serving myriads of families. Zichron Shlome’s mandate is that no one should ever suffer alone.

Medical Expenses: Not having the funds to pay medical bills can be one of the most stressful events to encounter while undergoing treatment for cancer. Your dollars can assist those families in affording their cancer related expenses and help them experience emotional and financial relief. Occasionally medications, diagnostic tests and treatments are not covered by insurance. Uncovered, denied or extra consultation medical expenses can now be funded. No longer does one have to be denied treatment because the insurance did not cover the consultation or procedure.

Fulfill a Dream: Zichron Shlome Refuah Fund makes dreams come true for over 3 decades.  Through your donation, you can help cancer patients experience fulfillment of their dreams. It could be a toy, game, meaningful outing, concert, or a trip away from home. Surely, the possibilities are endless.

Wigs: ZSRF also funds artificial beards and peyos for men suffering hair loss due to chemo treatment.

Transportation: ZSRF provides transportation to medical appointments, tests and treatments that can otherwise be way beyond a family’s means. Car service bills and parking expenses are reimbursed when a patient visits a medical facility.

Summer Camps: Children regain a sense of normalcy when they are able to go to a summer camp and enjoy fun activities that are NOT centered on their illness. The peer socialization and bonding help refuel youngsters to enable them to cope when they return home. Parents, too, are most grateful for this service as it allows them respite time and a chance to focus on the rest of the family.

Plane Tickets: Air fare, lodging and food are not covered by insurances, and their costs can be astronomical. ZSRF helps families travel to obtain the best medical care possible, even it means travelling across the country.

Mortgage, Rent and Utilities: Sometimes, paying for the basic life necessities are the most difficult ones for cancer patients. Keeping up with mortgage payments, rent or utilities could be most stressful. Being threatened with an eviction, while faced with paying for a lifesaving medication is a horrific predicament for a cancer patient to face. ZSRF assists families with their families with their bills so they don’t have to choose between shelter or medicine. ZSRF helps pay for both and alleviates their financial concerns.

Housekeepers: Normal family routine is frequently disrupted by catastrophic illness. Parents often must spend days and nights attending to the needs of the ill family member, and at times in distant locations. To alleviate this situation, ZSRF funds housekeepers. They greet the children returning from school and fortify them with a nourishing meal.
