SERVICE AREA: 242 Community Church Michigan campus communities in Ann Arbor, Brighton, Lansing, Livonia, Monroe, Saginaw, and Taylor.
CLIENTS SERVED: Residents who live in one of the 242 campus communities and have a one-time need that can be addressed for $250 or less.
DESCRIPTION: The No Needs Project is a community assistance board created by 242 Community Church that connects people with neighbors who are willing to help meet specific one-time needs. Requests can vary, but must be $250 or less to meet a one-time need. Assistance is not ongoing and multiple requests cannot be submitted.
PROGRAM:
- Community members submit a need through the website. After review, approved requests are posted on the community board where another person can choose to help.
- Requests must be for a one-time need of $250 or less. Project does not accept requests for cash, ongoing support, fundraisers, wish lists, or more than 1 request from the same household.
- The board currently includes categories for Food, Housing, Utilities, Car/Transport, Home Repair, Furniture/Appliances, Clothing/Kids, Yard/Moving, Medical, and Other.
- Examples of current requests include assistance with utility bills, groceries, transportation/gas, appliances, minor home repairs, yard work, and household necessities.’
HOW TO APPLY: Click on the orange Submit a Need button to access the online form on the No Needs Project website. The request is reviewed before being posted to the community board. If someone chooses to meet the need, 242 connects the person requesting help with the person offering assistance.
