DESCRIPTION: Bridging Communities, Inc. is a Detroit nonprofit that helps older adults age in place and assists residents with housing stability by connecting them to support services, community resources, housing counseling, and home repair programs.

SERVICES / PROGRAMS:

• Service Coordination: Provides case coordination, friendly calls and visits, transportation to medical appointments, food delivery, educational workshops, and help applying for Medicare, Medicaid, MI Bridges, and MiCAFE.
• Housing Resources Team: Connects eligible Detroit residents with home repair and rehabilitation programs, zero-interest loans, lead abatement, and property-tax assistance to help prevent tax foreclosure.
• HUD-Approved Housing Counseling: Provides housing counseling and guidance on housing stability, foreclosure prevention, and available assistance programs.
• Homebuyer Education Workshops: Offers workshops on preparing to buy a home, improving credit, and budgeting; completion may be required for certain down-payment assistance programs.
• Senior Support and Community Programs: Coordinates volunteer support, holiday remembrances, and other services that help older adults remain connected and independent.
