Our Mission and Values:
5 million children are coping with a parent’s cancer diagnosis.
That’s 5 million children at risk of experiencing increased anxiety, emotional isolation, loss of social interest, and/or feelings of hopelessness. And that’s why, at Kesem, we are committed to creating a world where every child who has a parent with a cancer diagnosis or has lost a parent to cancer is never alone. We support these children through and beyond their parent’s cancer with free, fun-filled creative programs and a lasting community.
Clinically Proven Programming:
Camp Kesem is a free, overnight summer camp for children ages 6-18 who are coping with a parent’s cancer. This unique camp experience provides fun-filled activities and a supportive community, helping kids navigate anxiety, isolation, and uncertainty — reminding them they are never alone. And, a 2026 study found Camp Kesem is clinically proven to improve the lives of kids facing a parent’s cancer.
All Kesem programs are completely free of charge for families served. Programs include Camp Kesem, Friends + Family Days, Kesem Better Days, Club Kesem, and other year-round services.
While many call Camp Kesem the best week of the year, we know we can serve families in more ways. That’s why we also offer free year-round services. The children we serve have the chance to reunite outside of camp at least twice a year to have fun and support each other. We also provide different touch points throughout the year that keep the Kesem magic alive until camp begins again!
Serves children whose parent has cancer throughout the United States.
