CLIENTS SERVED: Income-eligible Detroit homeowners and renters with a child under age 6 living in or regularly visiting the home, or a pregnant woman living in the home.

DESCRIPTION: Provides free lead-hazard assessment and remediation to help make Detroit homes safer by identifying and addressing lead-based paint hazards and other health and safety concerns.

PROGRAMS/SERVICES:

• Lead Inspection & Assessment: Free inspection to identify lead-based paint hazards and assessment of health and safety conditions in the home.
• Lead Hazard Remediation: Homes that qualify and test positive for lead hazards may receive repairs to eliminate or control lead-based paint hazards.
• Healthy Homes Improvements: May address additional health and safety hazards, including radon testing and mitigation.
• Non-Lead Emergency Repairs: May provide repairs such as a roof, furnace, water heater, or porch when needed and funding is available.
• Priority Households: The program prioritizes homes where a child has an elevated blood lead level of 3.5 µg/dL or higher.

HOW TO ACCESS SERVICES:

• Homeowners apply online through the City’s Neighborly system. Detroit residents who need help applying online can receive assistance through a City of Detroit Neighborhood Intake Center.
