Window Air Conditioning Units with MERV 13 or better filters and wiring to the unit are being provided in a giveaway to Delray homes in the program area. Electrical wiring will be provided for the A/C unit. One unit will be offered per occupied housing unit. The Window Air Conditioning Unit Giveaway Program is designed to support eligible Delray residents living in designated areas surrounding the Gordie Howe International Bridge

Application Period: June 10, 2026 – August 31, 2026

• The applicant must fall into one of the following categories:
  An owner-occupant residing within the eligible area; or
• A landlord who owns an occupied residential property within the eligible area in compliance with City rental requirements (e.g., a Certificate of Compliance); or
• A tenant residing within the eligible area may complete an initial application for the home. The program benefits will be provided to eligible landlords who complete an application.

Property Taxes
The applicant must not have any delinquent property taxes or taxes must be current in a payment plan. If taxes are owed, program staff may request documentation demonstrating that the balance has been resolved, such as proof of enrollment in a payment plan or a receipt showing a zero balance.

Outstanding Violations
The applicant must not have any outstanding blight tickets issued by the Building Safety Engineering and Environmental Department.

Property Type
The residential property must contain no more than three (3) dwelling units.

City of Detroit Employees
City of Detroit employees are eligible to participate, provided they meet all applicable eligibility requirements listed above.
