Window Air Conditioning Unit Giveaway Program

The Bridging Neighborhoods team is expanding air quality programming in select areas of the Delray neighborhood. The Window Air Conditioning Unit Giveaway Program is designed to support eligible Delray residents living in designated areas surrounding the Gordie Howe International Bridge as a community benefit related to the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.

Funded by MDOT, the program is administered by the Bridging Neighborhoods team, which oversees program operations, fund distribution, and related services within the City of Detroit.

What is Being Provided?
Window Air Conditioning Units with MERV 13 or better filters and wiring to the unit to Delray homes in the program area. Electrical wiring will be provided for the A/C unit. One unit will be offered per occupied housing unit. A MERV-13 air filter is a high-efficiency filter that captures 90% or more of airborne particles.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?
The applicant must fall into one of the following categories:
An owner-occupant residing within the eligible area (see map on webpage) / A landlord who owns an occupied residential property within the eligible area who has registered the home as a rental property with the City /A tenant residing within the eligible area may complete an initial application for the home. The program benefits will be provided to eligible landlords who complete an application.

How Will Homes Be Selected?
Resources are awarded to eligible applicants on a first come, first served basis.
