SERVICE AREA: Washtenaw County, primarily Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, with mobile food-truck and community services at various locations. Service locations and schedules change, so clients should check the current schedule.
CLIENTS SERVED: Residents of Washtenaw County, including individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, or other economic hardship. Some services are open to anyone regardless of income or residency requirements.
DESCRIPTION: FedUp Ministries is a Southeast Michigan nonprofit and food-justice ministry that provides free, nutritious meals and other basic-needs services to people experiencing food insecurity. The organization focuses on serving people with dignity, reducing barriers to food and other necessities, and connecting people with opportunities for stability and community.
PROGRAMS/SERVICES:
- FedUp: Provides free meals at regularly scheduled locations in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, with no questions asked other than dietary restrictions.
- Mobile Food Truck: Brings free meals directly to community locations throughout Washtenaw County, including rotating and partner locations.
- WashUp Program: Provides free mobile showers and laundry services for people experiencing homelessness or lacking access to these basic necessities. Services operate at different community locations.
- LiftUp Worship & Dinner: Offers a free community meal combined with worship and fellowship at the Ypsilanti location. Participation is open to the community.
- BuddyUp: Connects community members with neighbors in Washtenaw County who need direct support with groceries and other necessities.
- Employment Opportunities: Employs people who are unhoused and/or experiencing food insecurity as part of its food-service and community programs.
- Resource Connections: If someone needs food and there is not an active FedUp meal event in their area, the organization encourages them to contact FedUp for help connecting with a meal and other resources.
- Mini Chef Camp: Hands-on cooking program for children focused on nutrition, food safety, cooking skills, teamwork, and healthy, budget-friendly meals.
HOW TO ACCESS: Community meals require no registration or proof of income/residency. Clients can simply attend a scheduled meal location. Clients can check the FedUp Meal Program Schedule on the organization’s website for current days, times, and locations. Pop-up and rotating meal locations are listed on the Events/Calendar page. If there is no active meal event nearby, FedUp asks clients to contact them for help connecting with a meal or other resources.
