CLIENTS SERVED: Eligible permanent federal civilian and postal employees and their families. Eligibility varies by program and some programs require a minimum length of federal service or income level.
The Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA) is a nonprofit organization providing financial assistance, educational support, and resources to federal and postal public servants and their families. Its programs include emergency hardship loans, disaster relief, scholarships, tutoring, childcare subsidies, and financial and other practical resources.
SERVICES & PROGRAMS:
- Emergency Hardship Loans: No-interest, no-fee loans of up to $2,000 for eligible permanent federal civilian and postal employees needing emergency financial assistance with illness, death in the family, natural-disaster damage to a home, or domestic violence. Loans may help with expenses such as rent/mortgage, utilities, medical costs, funeral expenses, emergency travel, or temporary lodging. Applicants generally must have been employed by the federal government for more than one year.
- Disaster Relief: Grants may be available to eligible federal employees whose homes or lives have been affected by a natural disaster.
- Scholarships: Merit-based scholarships of $1,000–$5,000 are available to eligible federal employees, their spouses, and children/dependents. The 2026 application period is closed.
- Free K–12 Tutoring: Free online tutoring is available to children of eligible federal civilian and postal employees who meet the program’s income and employment requirements.
- Childcare Subsidies: FEEA Childcare Services administers childcare subsidy programs for several federal agencies; eligibility depends on the employee’s agency and program.
- FEDLifeHacks: Provides free information and resources covering financial wellness, family, health, education, career, and other everyday concerns for federal employees and their families.
