DESCRIPTION: Firm Foundations of Hope is a Christian nonprofit serving Detroit through neighborhood revitalization, home repairs, employment support, mentoring, and evangelization. Its home-repair ministry is focused on helping improve homes while providing meaningful work and training opportunities.

SERVICES & PROGRAMS:

• Home Repairs: Provides home repairs for low-income households to make homes safer. If the project fits within their capabilities, they will contact the applicant to discuss next steps. Note that assistance cannot be guaranteed.
  • Examples of repairs done include wheelchair ramps, railings, stairs, gutters, ceiling and wall repairs, grab bars, window replacement, porch repairs, minor plumbing, and other needed improvements. Types of repairs they cannot work on are: Roofing, HVAC, Major Plumbing, and Major Electrical​.
• Employment, Training & Mentoring: Provides employment opportunities and mentoring for unemployed individuals, including part-time work and training intended to prepare participants for the full-time workforce.
• Christian Community: Provides opportunities for fellowship, meals, Bible study, and community-building through its mission house and AlleyGroup.
• Evangelism & Spiritual Support: Offers community evangelization, opportunities to learn about Christianity and discipleship, and pastoral counsel or spiritual direction.
