SERVICE AREA: Monroe County, but individual programs may have different distribution locations and eligibility requirements.
CLIENTS SERVED: Monroe County residents who need food assistance and meet income guidelines, or already participate in state aid programs. Some programs have additional requirements.
DESCRIPTION: MCOP operates and coordinates multiple food programs designed to help Monroe County residents. Schedules and income requirements are posted on MCOP’s Facebook page.
SERVICES / PROGRAMS:
- Commodity Supplemental Food Program: Provides supplemental food to Monroe County residents age 60+.
- Community Wide Food Bank: Connects residents with food pantry locations throughout Monroe County.
- Diaper Bank: Provides one case of diapers and one package of wipes monthly for up to four consecutive months within a 12-month period.
- Fresh Opportunity Market: Offers food to all Monroe County residents Mondays from 12–3 p.m. at The Opportunity Center.
- Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP): Quarterly program which provides food through 12 locations throughout Monroe County.
- Emergency Food Box: Provides a one-time emergency food box each month for qualified individuals and families.
- Lord’s Harvest Pantry: A community-wide client-choice food pantry where residents can select the groceries they need.
- Mobile Food Pantry: Provides food at changing locations throughout Monroe County.
HOW TO APPLY:
- Commodity Supplemental Food Program: Call MCOP Food Programs at 734-241-2775 ext. 222 for eligibility and enrollment information.
- Community Wide Food Bank: Residents should bring proof of household income, residency, and household size when visiting a participating food pantry.
- Proof of Income: paystub, direct deposit Statement, current award letter from State, etc.
- Proof of Residency: utility bill, rent receipt, property tax bill, etc.
- Proof of Household Size: medicaid cards, income tax returns, etc.
- Diaper Bank: Call MCOPP, 734-241-2775 to determine eligibility and distribution information.
- Fresh Opportunity Market: The market is open Mondays from 12–3 p.m. at The Opportunity Center.
