CLIENT CHOICE FOOD PANTRY:Â
With the help of many community supporters, the Neighborhood House Food Pantry distributes about 200,000 meals annually to local families in need. The Neighborhood House Food Pantry p rovides not only canned foods, but also dairy, protein, fresh fruits/vegetables, and more. We even have food for the family cat/dog. Our families receive food based on nutritional guidelines provided by dietetic interns from Beaumont Hospital. In addition to regular visits to the pantry, our neighbors also have access to bonus Thursdays when we distribute fresh items before the weekend.
We are a Client Choice pantry. Clients choose their own food selections so that they are able to choose their favorite foods, instead of simply handing them a box of pre-packaged food. We have a thorough enrollment process. Each client completes an intake process to assess their needs based on income, expenses, employment, life circumstances, and more. Active families can visit the food pantry 1 time per month, receiving 2 weeks’ worth of food. Each visit must be at least 30 days apart. Clients are re-evaluated yearly to assess their needs.  Neighborhood House provides home food delivery to clients who are home bound and those without access to transportation.
CLOTHES CLOSET:Â
On average, the Neighborhood House Clothes Closet provides over 38,000 gently used household and clothing items to families in need each year. The Neighborhood House Clothes Closet provides clothing and household items free of charge to our neighbors in need, helping them on their path to self-sustainability. The public is also welcome to come and shop for clothing and household items at a fraction of other store’s prices. Not only does the Neighborhood House Clothes Closet have very affordable clothing, but all the proceeds help keep us open for our clients in need of clothing assistance. Men’s, women’s, infant’s and children’s clothing is available. Birthday gifts are also available for low-income parents to select a NEW gift for their children
