CLIENTS SERVED: Oakland County residents experiencing financial hardship who receive municipal water and/or sewer services.
DESCRIPTION:Â The Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner, in partnership with United Way for Southeastern Michigan, administers this program to help residents experiencing financial hardship with water and sewer bills and essential plumbing repairs. Primarily serves households earning up to 300% of the Federal Poverty Level, but eligibility is flexible and exceptions may be considered. Examples of hardship include job loss, medical expenses, or divorce.
SERVICES / PROGRAMS:
- Water and Sewer Bill Assistance: Provides up to $2,000 in emergency assistance to help pay current water or sewer bills (up to 3 months) and reduce or eliminate past-due balances.
- Essential Plumbing Repairs: May cover necessary plumbing repairs to address water loss and help maintain water service.
 HOW TO APPLY: Funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants are encouraged to apply even if they are unsure whether they meet the income guidelines.
