CLIENTS SERVED: Low-income individuals, families, older adults, veterans, children, and others experiencing financial hardship or needing assistance with housing, food, health, energy costs, education, or other basic needs. Services vary by program, funding, and location.
OLHSAÂ is a Community Action Agency providing comprehensive, wrap-around services to help individuals and families overcome barriers related to poverty. Its programs cover economic security, emergency assistance, housing, health and nutrition, education, early childhood, older adult services, and energy assistance.
SERVICES & PROGRAMS:
- Emergency Assistance: Emergency utility assistance, water assistance, emergency rent or mortgage assistance, and other crisis support.
- Housing Services: Homebuyer education and assistance, foreclosure and property-tax assistance, homelessness services, and housing counseling.
- Weatherization & Home Repair: Weatherization assistance and certain home repair programs, including mobile home repairs in Oakland County.
- Food & Nutrition: Food assistance, food pantries, TEFAP, senior food programs, WIC, and summer meals for children.
- Older Adult Services: Resource advocacy and assistance connecting older adults with benefits and community resources; also offers support for grandparents raising grandchildren.
- Michigan Benefits Access: Help applying for SNAP, LIHEAP, TANF, Medicaid, child-care assistance, and other benefits through MI Bridges..
- Financial & Employment Support: Financial management education, budgeting and credit counseling, asset-building resources, workforce development, and employment assistance.
- Veteran Services: Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) and housing-related assistance for eligible veterans.
- Early Childhood & Family Services: Head Start, Early Head Start, Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), WIC, and family resource support.
- Health Services: Maternal and child health support, HIV services, and Oakland 360 Care, which provides connections to physical, behavioral, and social-health resources.
