Mercy Cupboard Food Pantry
We are proud to partner with Catholic Charities Southeast Michigan to host an onsite Food Pantry located at the Bridge Housing Campus. Mercy Cupboard provides local residents – including BHC graduates – with consistent access to nutritious food in a welcoming, dignified environment. Fresh produce, canned goods, breads, dairy, and proteins are readily available. Hygiene products (toothbrushes & toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc.) and infant items (diapers, wipes, formula, etc.) are also provided if available.Â
At our Day Center, we provide vital support to more than 200 guests daily, including nutritious meals, access to showers, laundry service, and connection to professional services through our free clinics.
Our Bridge Housing Campus offers residents 90-120 days of shelter, along with medical, respite, psychological, addiction, social, and job-readiness services, giving them the support they need to transition into permanent housing.
Our Bridge Housing Campus (BHC) is a holistic response to the complex and interconnected barriers to housing. Based on years of research and best models for alleviating homelessness, findings show that trauma-informed, intensive wrap-around care is necessary to help people become and stay housed.
BHC is a 60,000 sq ft campus located 3 miles outside of downtown Detroit on a 5-acre plot of land in the Core City neighborhood. The Campus includes 40 studio apartments where residents can stay for approximately 90 – 120 days with access to intensive medical, respite, psychological, addiction, social, and job-readiness services, as well as housing advocacy and support.
BHC is not an emergency shelter nor is it permanent housing. It’s an intensive program where each resident receives an individualized treatment plan created to support and empower them to overcome the many complex challenges they face. We will continue to provide essential housing advocacy to help residents navigate the complicated and disjointed housing resources available to create stability in their lives. Our goal is to support and empower our residents to become and stay housed upon leaving BHC, while creating a trusting long-term relationship to support them as they live independently.
