SERVICE AREA: Livingston County, including Howell, Brighton, Fowlerville, Hartland, Pinckney, and surrounding communities. Emergency assistance programs at the Livingston County Corps are specifically limited to Livingston County residents. Some community programs, such as Summer Lunch Bunch, operate at locations throughout the county.
CLIENTS SERVED: Individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, food insecurity, housing instability, utility emergencies, or other crises. The Salvation Army does not require clients to be Salvation Army members; eligibility depends on the individual program.
DESCRIPTION: The Salvation Army tries to meet human needs without discrimination. The Livingston County Corps provides practical assistance and supportive programs to help local individuals and families meet basic needs, remain housed, and move toward greater stability.
PROGRAMS/SERVICES:
Services may require an assessment intake and appointment. Programs operate dependent on funding and may not be available throughout the year. Call for current process, status, and eligibility
- Financial Assistance – Emergency help may be available for qualifying needs.
- Utility Assistance – Help with DTE, Consumers Energy, propane, and fuel oil.
- Housing/Rent Assistance – May assist with first month’s rent, security deposits, eviction situations, or temporary shelter.
- Shelter Assistance – People needing shelter must contact the Corps and complete an intake with the shelter caseworker; Livingston County residency and other eligibility requirements apply.
- Emergency Clothing Vouchers – For clothing needs resulting from a fire or other unexpected household emergency.
- Emergency Household Vouchers – For households that recently obtained housing or lost household items through a fire. Vouchers are redeemed at the Brighton Family Store.
- Food Assistance – Food programs and community meals are offered; some programs are seasonal or operated through community partners.
- Summer Lunch Bunch – Free summer meals for children at multiple locations throughout Livingston County.
- Senior Services – Social, recreational, educational, and supportive activities for older adults.
- Youth Programs – Youth activities, including youth nights and other community programming.
- Pathway/Support Services – Where available, case management and referrals can help individuals and families address employment, housing, budgeting, and other barriers.
