CLIENTS SERVED: Individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, food insecurity, housing instability, or other basic-needs challenges; veterans, children, youth, seniors, and others seeking community or spiritual support.

DESCRIPTION: The Salvation Army Washtenaw County Corps provides practical assistance, family support, housing-related services, youth and senior programs, and spiritual care to residents throughout Washtenaw County. The organization operates its main Corps in Ann Arbor and also has a Ypsilanti community-service location. Its Family Store in Ann Arbor provides low-cost secondhand goods, with proceeds supporting Salvation Army programs.

PROGRAMS/SERVICES:

• Utility Assistance: Help with utility bills may be available to eligible households when funding is available; appointments and documentation may be required.
• Pathway of Hope: Caseworker-guided support that helps families set goals, address barriers, and work toward long-term stability.
• Food Assistance: Food pantry services for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
• Housing Assistance: Housing-related support and referrals for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
• Veterans’ Housing: Ken & Marianna Staples Veterans’ Hope House provides transitional housing for up to 11 veterans.
• Youth Programs: School-year and summer programs, including day camp, sports, clubs, arts, music, educational activities, and character-building programs.
• Family Support: Social workers help individuals and families identify needs and connect with appropriate assistance and community resources.
• Senior Services: Programs and activities designed to support older adults in the community.
• Spiritual Support: Prayer, spiritual guidance, counseling, worship, Bible study, and other faith-based activities available to people of all backgrounds.
