CLIENTS SERVED: Women, especially in the Downriver Michigan area, but they welcome all women anywhere to participate.

DESCRIPTION: SOAR: Downriver Women’s Community is a nonprofit organization that creates opportunities for women to build authentic friendships and supportive relationships. Its programs bring women together for personal growth, encouragement, mentoring, informal social activities, and community events, with an emphasis on building confidence, resilience, and a sense of connection within the Downriver community.

PROGRAMS/SERVICES:

• Monthly Workshops: $15 workshops held on the third Thursday during the spring and fall. Workshops provide opportunities to connect with other women, hear guest speakers, and participate in personal-growth activities. Children are welcome and are provided a craft and movie during the workshop.
• Monthly Connections: Informal social gatherings such as coffee chats, walking groups, and casual meetups where women can meet, talk, and develop friendships and support networks.
• One-on-One Mentoring: Volunteer-run mentoring that matches women for individual support in areas such as motherhood, business ownership, burnout, career changes, and other life experiences.
• Community Events: Hosts additional gatherings and events designed to bring Downriver women together. Current opportunities vary throughout the year.
• Online Community: Maintains a Facebook community where women can connect, share experiences, and stay informed about activities.
• sheSOARs Newsletter: Email newsletter for women who want information, encouragement, and updates about community events without participating through Facebook.
