SERVICE AREA: Nationwide. Individual programs have specific eligibility requirements.
CLIENTS SERVED: Eligible military and veteran families, including families of deployed service members, qualifying active-duty/Guard/Reserve families, military and veteran caregivers, expectant military/veteran families, and qualifying veteran families.
DESCRIPTION: Provides practical and emotional support to military and veteran families facing challenges. Volunteer-led programs provide support to help families of servicemembers.
PROGRAMS/SERVICES:
- Virtual Baby Showers: Provides baby supplies and handmade gifts to qualifying expectant families. Eligible participants include spouses of deployed service members, post-9/11 wounded, ill or injured veterans or their spouses, and HUD-VASH veterans or their spouses. HUD-VASH participants who do not otherwise meet the post-9/11 wounded/ill/injured criteria require a referral from appropriate VA staff.
- Military Caregiver Support – Women of Valor: Supports female caregivers of post-9/11 wounded, ill, or injured service members and veterans. Participants may receive care packages, cards for birthdays and anniversaries, educational resources, and access to a caregiver support community.
- Holiday Adopt-A-Family: Provides holiday assistance to qualifying active-duty and activated National Guard/Reserve military families experiencing financial need. Eligible families must have at least one dependent child age 18 or younger who is still in high school and meet household income requirements. Approved families receive some gifts and a grocery gift card for their holiday meal. Registration opens in September and ends when capacity is reached.
HOW TO ACCESS SERVICES:
- Expectant families can register directly through the Virtual Baby Showers program
- Eligible female military caregivers can apply through Women of Valor Caregiver Support.
- For Holiday Adopt-A-Family assistance, families can complete the Holiday Support application between September 1 and November 10, or until the program reaches capacity.
